Dordt Baseball In Yankton For Four Games

Yankton, South Dakota — The Dordt Defender baseball team will be playing a pair of doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday, April 23 and 24 against Mount Marty in Yankton, South Dakota. The Friday games will start at 3:00 pm and the Saturday contests will begin at 1:00.

The Mount Marty Lancers are 23-14 this season and 11-8 in the GPAC after sweeping three games from Jamestown on April 17 and Andy Bernatow’s team has won six games in a row dating back to a win over Doane on April 9.

Mount Marty is led by Billy Hancock’s .438 batting average and he has 11 homeruns and 41 runs batted in. Josh Roemen is batting .356 with 11 doubles and five homeruns and Caid Koletzky is batting .343 with nine homeruns.  The Lancers’ pitching staff has a team earned run average of 4.30 and is led by Tyler Priest with a 4.29 earned run average in 42 innings with a 6-2 record in nine games started. Dylan Nicholsan is 5-4 with 43 innings pitched and he has 41 strikeouts. Blake Svoboda leads the team in strikeouts with 47 in 36 innings and he is 4-2.

Dordt is 12-26 this season with a 5-15 GPAC mark.

Logan Cline is batting .430 with 58  hits and has six homeruns with 33 runs batted in and 27 stolen bases. John Emerson is batting .396 with 10 doubles and Chase Edwards is batting .360 with 10 doubles and four homeruns and a school record 44 runs batted in.

Gyengju Kim is 4-4 with a 3.54 earned run average and 80 strikeouts in 56 innings. Nick Yeager is 3-3 with 29 strikeouts in 11 relief appearances and Jadon VanderMolen and Diego Benitez each have two wins.

Dordt is scheduled to host Midland on Friday, April 30 and will travel to face the Warriors on Saturday, May 1 in Fremont, Nebraska to conclude the regular season.
