Dordt Basketball Opens Postseason Play Against Jamestown

Sioux Center, Iowa — The Dordt Defender men’s basketball team will host a Great Plains Athletic Conference men’s basketball game on Wednesday night, February 23 against Jamestown. The contest is the second of two hosted that night by the Defenders and will get underway at about 7:45.

Jamestown enters play as the no. 5 seed in the field and posted a 22-8 overall record and a 12-8 league record. The Jimmies lost back to back contests to Briar Cliff and Dordt to close the season after winning four in a row over Northwestern, Dakota Wesleyan, Midland and Morningside.

The Defenders are 20-9 this season and finished the league season 12-8 and tied with Jamestown. Dordt claimed the fourth seed by virtue of their win over Briar Cliff while the Jimmies were swept by the conference champion. Dordt has five losses since January 1 with three of them coming by two points each.

The Defenders are averaging 81 points per game and give up 73 and outrebound teams 35-34. Dordt has converted 50 percent of its field goals and limit opponents to 44 percent success.

Bryce Coppock scores 19.2 points per game and has made 60 three-point shots and takes in 4.2 rebounds per outing. Jacob Vis is averaging 15.5 points per game with 8.0 rebounds and Cade Bleeker has a 13.1 points per game average to go with 4.6 rebounds. Luke Rankin adds 11.1 points per game and hands out 4.5 assists per game to lead the team. Jackson Louscher is good for 8.4 points per game with Camden Bialas is converting 6.1 points per contest. Bleeker has made 65 three-point shots and Coppock has 60 makes and has converted 107 free throws.

The winner of this game will face the Briar Cliff-Dakota Wesleyan game. If Briar Cliff wins they will host a semifinal game on Saturday while a Dakota Wesleyan win puts the Tigers on the road against this winner.
