Dordt travels to Morningside on Saturday, September 14 in the conference opener for both teams in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Morningside Mustangs are the defending conference and national champions and are 1-0 after beating Saint Francis (Illinois) two weeks ago 80-0.
The Mustangs ran for 246 yards and passed for 339 while outgaining Saint Francis 585-202. Tupak Kpeayeh ran for 122 yards on 10 carries and AP Ponder ran for 116 yards on 21 carries. Joe Dolincheck was 23-28 passing for 316 yards and five touchdowns. Bo Elscaught eight passes for 138 yards and three touchdowns and Addison Ross had four catches for 41 yards and a score. Austin Johnson caught three balls for 54 yards.
Dordt is 1-1 this season with a 34-21 loss to Keiser (Florida) to open the season and a 30-9 win over Waldorf last week.
The Defenders have run for 302 yards per game and passed for 75. Teams have gained 183 yards on the ground per game against Dordt and have passed for 174.
Levi Schoonhoven has run for 224 yards through two games and has two touchdowns. Tyler Reynolds has run for 168 yards and also has two touchdowns. Charley Young has 82 yards on 18 carries.
The Dordt Defenders are no. 24 in the NAIA Preseason poll after finishing 2018 no. 23. The Mustangs from Morningside, defending national champions, are the preseason no. 1 pick and Benedictine (Kansas) is no. 2. Other familiar names are Northwestern at no. 11 and Grand View is no. 12.
