Dordt Football Faces Panhandle State Saturday

Goodwell, Oklahoma — The Dordt Defender football team returns to action for the first time this spring with a road game at Panhandle State in Goodwell, Oklahoma.

The Aggies will be playing in their “Aggie Days” game and are currently 1-6 this season and 1-2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. Panhandle State played in four games this fall and were 0-4 when they stopped play on October 31. The Aggies have a 25-18 win over Wayland Baptist to their credit and also lost to Wayland Baptist in the fall by a 29-24 margin. Most recently Panhandle State lost to Ottawa (Arizona) by a 35-28 margin on March 13.

Panhandle State is getting outscored 32-17 on average and are getting outgained 342-254. The Aggies get 83 yards per game on the ground while allowing 202 and they pass for 172 while giving up 240.

KC Crandall has passed for 681 yards on 52-111 completions with six touchdowns. Shawn Cumby was 41-68 passing but hasn’t played since October 31. Seth Barbarino has 30 catches for 305 yards and a 10.2 average with a long of 84. Jaishone Brown has 10 catches for 26.9 yards per catch and three touchdowns. Chris Daley and Connor Perkins each have eight catches for 13.1 and 15.3 yards per catch. Jamalrian Jones has run for 290 yards on 51 carries and has scored three touchdowns and 80 of his yards came on his longest touchdown run of the season.

Warren Dillon has 27 solo and 27 assisted tackles with an interception and Ja’Qauavion Daniels has 25 solo and 19 assisted stops with one interception. Anthony Taylor and D’Quan Charles have 37 and 36 tackles respectively and five and four sacks each. Marquez Johnson has a team high two interceptions. Lorenzo Amador is 3-5 on point after tries and has handled the kicking this spring. Seth Barbarino has 21 punts this spring and has a 28.9 yards per punt average with a long of 56.

The Defenders are 7-2 this season and in the GPAC with wins over Midland (22-14), Dakota Wesleyan (47-10), Jamestown (66-13), Doane (44-19), Concordia (41-14), Hastings (65-0) and Briar Cliff (64-0). The losses for Dordt came on October 3 against Northwestern (48-40) and October 31 against Morningside (35-30).

The Defenders run for 314 yards per game on average and pass for 234. Dordt’s defense allows 121 yards per game on the ground and 163 in the air. Dordt is outscoring teams on average 47-17.

Noah Clayberg has completed 143-218 passes for 1746 yards and 16 touchdowns with six interceptions. He has also run 143 times for 1060 yards—a 7.4 yards per carry average and has 16 rushing touchdowns. Carter Schiebout has 622 yards rushing on 116 attempts with a 5.4 yards per carry average with six touchdowns. Michael Sondermann has run 85 times for 316 yards and a 3.7 yards per carry average.

Levi Jungling has caught 59 passes for a 14.2 yards per catch average and has nine touchdown catches. Ben Heuvelhorst has a 9.5 yards per catch average with two touchdowns and 28 snags. Jayden Huisman has 27 catches for 12.0 yards per catch and Raphael Carr has an 11.4 yards per catch average on 11 catches. Hayden Large became more of a threat as the season progressed and has 18 catches for 10.7 yards per catch and five touchdowns.

Brett Zachman has converted 41-46 point after tries and is 9-9 on field goal attempts with a long of 43. Clayberg has punted 21 times for a 36.9 yards per punt average.

Josh Mrazek has 57 tackles and Brayton Van Kekerix has 47. Nathan Kabongo has 42 tackles with two interceptions and Jalen Placide had three interceptions but will not be playing this semester. Colyn Oostenink had 8.5 quarterback sacks but will not see action due to an injury. David Kacmarynski has 6.5 sacks and an interception this season . Dordt has 37 total sacks this season.
