Hastings, Nebraska — Dordt will travel to Hastings, Nebraska to face the Hastings College Broncos in GPAC play with a 1:00 kickoff.
The Broncos are 0-1 after losing to Northwestern in Orange City last weekend 45-13. Northwestern was up 42-0 going into the fourth quarter before Hastings got on the board with two touchdowns.
The Broncos had trouble getting much going on offense with 170 yards passing and 62 yards rushing. The Defense allowed 308 yards passing and 139 yards rushing.
Dordt is 0-1 after losing 25-24 to Midland last week on the final play of regulation.
The Defenders ran for 184 yards and passed for 179. Dordt’s defense allowed 32 yards rushing and 269 yards passing and picked off three passes. Anthony Trojahn ran for 94 yards on 21 carries and Nick Wellen and Ethan Thomas each had 37 and 33 yards. Thomas completed 5-11 passes for 89 yards and Tyler Reynolds was 3-4 with 90 yards. Elia Boldan had three catches for 98 yards and a touchdown and Levi Jungling had four catches for 72 yards while Hayden Large caught a touchdown pass.
Jalen Placide, Nathan Kabongo, Grant Hixson and Meno Jones all had an interception and Bryce Christian had two quarterback sacks. Brayton Van Kekerix led the defense with seven solo and three assisted stops with a forced fumble.
Hastings leads the series 8-5 with Dordt winning the last five contests dating back to a 44-43 win in 2016. Last year’s contest was a 65-0 win for the Defenders at home.
