Sioux Center, Iowa — Some area track teams saw their first action of the year at the Dordt indoor meet Monday.
The Sheldon Orabs, G-LR and MOC Floyd Valley from the Siouxland Conference were there. From the War Eagle it was Unity, West Sioux, Trinity and MMC. From the Lakes Conference Western Christian was part of the field as well. No team totals were kept.
Sheldon’s Mark Ahlers set a new record in the open 800 in a time of 2:05.42. The old record had been held by Aaron Lemon of Western with a time of 2:07.23 in 2014. Multiple winners included Sheldon’s Bryn Groff who won the 55 meter hurdles along with the 200 meter hurdles. The Sioux Center girls took both the 4 x 200 and 4 x 400 relays. For the boys Heelan was first in the 4 x 200 and 4 x 400 meter relays.
