Sioux Center, Iowa — Dordt will host Concordia on Wednesday, February 3 at 8:00 pm
Concordia is 14-7 this season and 11-5 in the GPAC and the Bulldogs last played on January 23. Concordia has won three of its last four and are 6-6 in their last 12 games since starting the year 8-1.
Justin Wiersema is averaging 17.0 points per game with 5.4 rebounds and he is converting 58 percent of his field goals and 42 percent of his three-point shots and has made a team high 47. Carter Kent is averaging 15.2 points per game and he also has 47 made three-point shots but his percentage isn’t quite as high at 31.5. Gage Smith completes the double-digit scorers with a 12.5 average and he takes in a team high 9.0 rebounds per game.
The Defender men are 15-7 overall and 10-7 in the GPAC.
Dordt converts 50 percent of its field goals while outscoring teams 82.8-76.3 and outrebound teams 36.1-33.8. Opponents make 44.2 percent of their field goals and the Defenders have converted 191 three-point shots with 35.5 percent success.
Garrett Franken scores 15.9 points per game with 7.4 rebounds and he hands out 2.8 assists per game while making 48.5 percent of his field goals. Jesse Jansma scores 14.7 points per game with a team high 4.0 assists per game and he is making 46.2 percent of his field goals. Jacob Vis is scoring 12.5 points per game with 5.7 rebounds and he is making 65 percent of his field goal tries and has a team high 24 blocked shots. Cade Bleeker adds 11.0 points per game and Bryce Coppock is averaging 9.1. Ben Gesink’s average is 6.1 and he gets 3.5 rebounds and he is making 33 percent of his three-point shots. Camden Bialas is at 5.5 points per game and Fykstra converts 4.8. Bialas is making 74.6 percent of his field goal attempts. Jansma has 38 made three-point shots while Bleeker and Coppock have 36 and 37 and Gesink 28.
Concordia was in control much of the November 21 meeting of these two and went on to win 82-59. Franken had 17 in the loss while Concordia was topped by Holt and Wiersema with 18 each and Smith had 16 points and nine rebounds.
Dordt will be off until Wednesday, February 10 when the Defenders travel to face Dakota Wesleyan. Dordt concludes the regular season 10 days later on the road at Briar Cliff.
