Dordt Men Clash With Morningside Wednesday

Sioux Center, Iowa — Dordt will host the Morningside Mustangs in men’s GPAC basketball on Wednesday night, February 2 starting at 7:45.

The Mustangs are 12-7 this season and 9-5 in the conference and are 4-3 in 2022. The Mustangs have won back to back games over Mount Marty and Northwestern in their most recent outings and converted over 50 percent of their field goals in both of those games.

Dordt has won three games in a row and are 6-3 in its last nine games. Dordt sports a 16-7 overall record and an 8-6 GPAC record.

The Defenders are converting 82.5 points per game and allow 71.8 and outrebound teams 36-34. Dordt’s shooting percentage is 50 percent overall and the Defenders convert 37 percent of their three-point shots while allowing teams to make 44 percent and 35 percent from the arc. Dordt also commits 10 turnovers per game and force 11.

Bryce Coppock is good for 18.9 points per game and he is scoring 21 points per game in 14 conference games. Cade Bleeker is at 12.7 points per game and has 48 made three-point shots to Coppock’s 47 this season. Luke Rankin is scoring 11 points per game with 4.7 assists and Jackson Louscher scores 8.1 per outing.

Morningside was an 88-75 winner over Morningside on November 17 after taking a 44-26 halftime lead. Bryce Coppock had 17 for Dordt and Luke Rankin, Cade Bleeker and Jacob Vis all had 13 points. Morningside got 17 from Joey Skoff and 16 from Aidan Vanderloo and Will Pottebaum scored 14.
