Dordt Men Host Northwestern Wednesday Night

Dordt will host Northwestern on Wednesday, December 14 at 8:00 pm in men’s basketball.

Northwestern is 8-3 overall and 5-3 in the GPAC with losses in the conference to Dakota Wesleyan, Morningside and Concordia. The Raiders are 4-1 in their last five games and the three league games are by a combined 10 points.

The Raiders have outscored teams 89.5-75.5 this season and have outrebounded teams 36.3-30.0. Northwestern also converts 54.2 percent of its shots and 40.6 percent of its three-point tries. Teams make 44.7 percent against the Raiders and 39.5 percent on three-point shots.

Alex Van Kalsbeek converts for 20.1 points per game with 6.7 rebounds and he is making 75.8 percent of his field goals and he also has over two assists per game. Jay Small scores 15.2 points per game and has a 6.2 rebounding average with 32 made three-point shots and 40 percent success. Trent Hilbrands scores 14.9 points per game and has 28 made three-point shots with 43.1 percent three-point success. Craig Sterk comes off the bench to score 12.8 points per game and Keegan Van Egdom is good for 11.6 points per game with 26 made three-point shots and he is making 51 percent of his long shot attempts. Isaac Heyer’s scoring average is 7.8.

The Defender men are 8-4 overall and 4-4 in the GPAC. Dordt’s wins in league play are over Briar Cliff, Midland, Doane and Hastings and the losses are to Dakota Wesleyan, Concordia, Morningside and Jamestown.

Dordt converts 49.0 percent of its field goals while outscoring teams 80.8-74.4 and outrebound teams 39.2-35.7. Opponents make 42.6 percent of their field goals and the Defenders have converted 92 three-point shots.

Garrett Franken scores 15.3 points per game with 8.1 rebounds and he hands out just 2.5 assists per game. Jesse Jansma scores 14.7 points per game with a team high 3.8 assists per game and he is making 47.2 percent of his field goals. Jacob Vis is scoring 12.3 points per game with 7.1 rebounds and he is making 66.7 percent of his field goal tries and has a team high 14 blocked shots. Cade Bleeker adds 11.1 points per game and Bryce Coppock is averaging 7.6. Camden Bialas and Ben Gesink are at 5.3 and 5.7 points per game respectively. Jansma has made 21 three-point shots while Bleeker and Coppock have 19 and 18 respectively.

Dordt will travel to Yankton, South Dakota to face Mount Marty on Saturday, December 19. The Defenders are then off until Saturday, January 2 at home against Midland.
