Dordt will travel to Hastings in GPAC men’s basketball on Saturday, January 16for a 4:00 pm tip.
The Hastings men are 5-12 overall and 1-11 in the GPAC with a conference win on Wednesday over Doane.
The Broncos are led by Mason Hiemstra’s 16.7 points per game in his sophomore campaign. He’s converting 46.2 percent of his shots and gets 7.1 rebounds with nearly three assists per game. Ben Juhl adds 14.9 points per game and is converting 45.3 percent of his field goals. Karson Gansebom is good for 13.9 points per game and Dashawn Walker converts 13.7 points per game and takes in a team high 7.4 rebounds per game.
The Defender men are 14-4 overall and 9-4 in the GPAC and takes a seven-game winning streak into the game against the Broncos. Dordt has won eight of its last nine contests.
Dordt converts 51.0 percent of its field goals while outscoring teams 84.0-75.1 and outrebound teams 37.7-33.3. Opponents make 43.9 percent of their field goals and the Defenders have converted 147 three-point shots with 35 percent success.
Garrett Franken scores 16.3 points per game with 7.7 rebounds and he hands out 2.9 assists per game while making 51 percent of his field goals. Jesse Jansma scores 15.4 points per game with a team high 4.0 assists per game and he is making 46 percent of his field goals. Jacob Vis is scoring 12.4 points per game with 5.9 rebounds and he is making 67 percent of his field goal tries and has a team high 19 blocked shots. Cade Bleeker adds 11.9 points per game and Bryce Coppock is averaging 8.9. Dejay Fykstra is converting 5.3 points per game and he makes 68 percent of his field goals while Ben Gesink is averaging 5.2 points per game. Jansma and Bleeker each have 31 made three-point shots and Coppock has 30.
Dordt was a 106-72 winner over Hastings on December 12 behind 22 points from Jansma and 18 by Bleeker while Franken added 15 with 11 rebounds. Gansebom and Juhl scored 14 each for Hastings.
Dordt will return to action on Wednesday, January 20 when it hosts Morningside.
