Dordt Softball To Battle Midland In Saturday Home Opener

After a week away from the diamond, the Dordt Defenders are scheduled to take on the Midland Warriors on Saturday, April 2.

Saturday’s doubleheader will begin at 1:00 PM.

MIDLAND
The Warriors are receiving votes in the latest NAIA Coaches’ Poll thanks to an 18-5 record so far this season. They have won five of their last six games, hitting for a team average of .306 and sitting in the top 15 in the country in total home runs with 22. Roni Foote is the leading hitter for Midland, batting .456 on the season with six home runs and 32 runs batted in. Emily Prai also holds an average of .419 and has stolen a base 10 times. Aliyah Rincon enters with a 10-3 record in the circle, posting an ERA of 2.01. Rincon has 87 strikeouts on the season, which is second in the conference.

DORDT
The Defenders come into the weekend with an overall record of 11-8-1, splitting their conference games 1-1. Dordt had a six-game winning streak entering game two against Concordia last weekend. They are hitting for an average of .247 at the plate, scoring 3.9 runs per game and have a combined ERA of 2.43. Jessica Oules comes in with a .348 average. Karli Olsen and Chandler Schemper are hitting .321 with 10 and 13 RBI, respectively. Abby Kraemer is leading the conference in ERA, giving up only 1.19 runs per game. She also has struck out 84 batters this season, which is third in the GPAC. Kraemer is tied for the conference saves lead with two.

Dordt will host Briar Cliff on Monday, April 4 for a rescheduled matchup from March 29. The doubleheader will begin at 4:00 PM at the Open Space Park Softball Field.
