Aberdeen, South Dakota — Dordt travels to Aberdeen, South Dakota to play six games February 11-13. Dordt will face Presentation at 5:00 on Thursday in a doubleheader and then face Jamestown and Valley City State on Friday, February 12 at 10:00 and noon respectively. Dordt will conclude play on Saturday against Morningside and Dakota Wesleyan at noon at 4:00 pm.
Presentation was 1-15 last season and the Saints’ top returning hitter is Skye Carter with a .346 batting average in 2021. She had nine hits in ten games played. Celia Cerezo returns after batting .214 last season with six hits. Yulissa Pena was 1-4 on the mound with 42 innings pitched and had 22 strikeouts with a 7.61 earned run average.
Jamestown was 12-7 last season and return five hitters who posted .392 batting averages or better. Katie Reisdorfer batted .468 with 22 hits and 14 runs batted in. Morgan Geiszler batted .463 last season with 25 hits and five doubles. Santina Zito batted .443 with six doubles and had two homeruns like Geiszler. Mariah Wick and Kasi Ward batted .407 and .392 last season and Ward clubbed two homeruns. Katie Merchant was 5-2 on the mound with 43 innings pitched and she struck out 35 batters. Ann-Marie Crandlemire was 2-2 in 19 innings pitched.
Valley City State posted a 6-12 record last season. Sierra Crocker returns after batting .443 last season with two homeruns. Riley Perryman batted .400 with four homeruns and had 22 hits and Joelle Aiello batted .359 with three triples and Marissa Hawkins batted .356 with six doubles. Joelle Lamontagne returns after posting a 4-6 record with a 6.31 earned run average and struck out 17. Amber Stewart pitched 56 innings and had 63 strikeouts and posted a 2-6 record.
Dakota Wesleyan was 8-13 last season and returns Alyssa Garcia after she batted .404 last season with four doubles with 11 runs batted in. Stephanie Gabel had a .278 batting average and Adrianna Thomason batted .246 last year with 14 hits. Meghan Daffern was 4-4 on the mound with a 3.74 earned run average in 39 innings of work and struck out nine.
Morningside was 15-6 in 2020 and return Carson Cameron with a .438 batting average with two homeruns and a team high 32 hits. Carrington Entringer batted .347 last season with six doubles and Sydney Petersen batted .326. The Mustangs return all four pitchers who accounted for 143 innings pitched last season. Hallie Misiaszeek posted a 5-3 record and Katherine Wurtz and Alex Nelson each had four wins, Misiaszke and Wurtz had 39 and 34 strikeouts respectively.
Dordt was 12-9 last season and return Jessica Flaherty with a .433 batting average and she had 13 hits and seven runs batted in. Hailey Heeringa batted .396 with two homeruns and had 10 runs batted in. Jessica Oules batted .333 with 12 hits. Also returning is Rachel Evavold who didn’t play last spring due to her basketball season but will be back for her final season of softball this spring. Abby Kraemer was 6-4 on the mound with 55 innings pitched and posted a 3.18 earned run average with 37 strikeouts.
Dordt is scheduled to travel to Kissimmee, Florida for 12 games from March 6-12
