Dordt To Host Hastings Saturday

Dordt College continues the GPAC season with a Defender Days game against Hastings on Saturday, October 14 with a 1:00 kickoff.

Hastings College is 5-1 this season and 2-1 in the GPAC with a 38-35 loss to Dakota Wesleyan standing between Hastings and perfection at this point of the season.  The Broncos next closest game was a 52-35 win over Southwestern on September 2.  Tony Hobson’s team is ranked 19th in the most recent NAIA Coaches’ Poll.

The Broncos are averaging 273 yards per game on the ground and 176 in the air.  Tahj Willingham is the leading ground gainer with a 6.8 per carry average, 13 touchdowns and 847 yards through six games. Quarterback Anthony Cloyd has 541 yards rushing this year with five touchdowns and a 6.4 yards per carry average.  Cloyd has completed 60-108 passes for 940 yards, ten touchdowns and no interceptions.  Noah Housh is Cloyd’s favorite receiver with a 21.5 average and four touchdowns and 19 total grabs. Jordan Johnson and Rashaad Shamburger have 13 and 12 catches each with 15.7 and 10.5 averages each. Johnson has three touchdown receptions.  Hastings averages 41.5 points per game.

Dordt is 3-2 this season and 1-2 in the GPAC with losses this year to Morningside and Midland in league play and a GPAC win over Doane.

The Defenders average 35 points per game on offense and have allowed 23 points per game this season. The Defenders average 280 yards per game on the ground and the defense has allowed 181 yards rushing per contest. Dordt’s passing game is good for 210 yards per game and are allowing 222 yards per game in the air.
