The Dordt Defender volleyball team advanced to the GPAC Semifinals with a 3-0 win over the Concordia Bulldogs at the De Witt Gym on Saturday night in Sioux Center.
The Defenders controlled the first two sets, using a six point run to go from up 17-11 to 23-11 in set one and won the set on a block by Jamie De Jager and Ally Krommendyk 25-12.
Dordt used the momentum from set one to vault itself to a 9-1 lead in set two with kills by Leah Kamp, Jessi De Jager and Ema Altena giving Dordt the eight point lead that was never smaller than four the rest of the set.
Concordia seemed to regroup in set three and led 16-14 after a three-point run. Krommendyk and Altena each had kills to tie the set at 16-16 and the two teamed up for a block to give Dordt the lead at 17-16. Concordia led once more at 18-17 but a Krommendyk kill tied it and an attack error by the Bulldogs put Dordt up 19-18. The score was never tied again as Dordt got to set point 24-20 and won it 25-22 on a Kamp kill.
