Dordt Volleyball Bounces Back With Saturday Morning Win

La Crosse, Wisconsin — The Dordt women’s volleyball team bounced back from their first loss of the season with a sweep versus UM Dearborn at the Viterbo Classic.

The Defenders opened set one with a 13-5 lead, which included two service aces from Corrina Timmermans during a 7-0 Dordt run. The Defenders added to the lead, going up 22-11 before closing out the set by earning the final three points and a 25-11 set win.

Consistent starts were the theme of the match for Dordt, who jumped out to an early 9-4 lead to set the tone in set two. Jessi Franken added two of the next eight Dordt points as the Defenders held a 17-8 lead past the midway point of the set, helping them take a 25-14 win.

After a 10-10 tie in set three, Dordt only allowed four points for the remainder of the match as the Defenders finished their 25-14 set three win with a service ace by Mia Gamet.

The Defenders hit for a percentage of .309 while holding UM Dearborn to a .012 percentage

Dordt led in blocks 6-3

Campbell Marshall led the Defenders in assists with 14

Corrina Timmermans had 10 kills along with 6 for Grace Langemeier

Dordt is now 9-1 on the season

Dordt will play their final game of the Viterbo Classic versus Rocky Mountain at 1:30 PM Saturday.
