Dordt Volleyball Takes On Grand View Tuesday

Des Moines, Iowa — The Defenders will travel to face Grand View in a Tuesday afternoon match in Des Moines, Iowa on March 23. The match will begin at 4:30 pm.

Grand View is 15-1 this season and is 12-0 in the Heart of America Conference. The Vikings’ loss this season is to Central Methodist and that happened on March 5.

Emily Box leads the team with a 3.48 kills per set average with a .215 kill efficiency and Jenna Wagemester is good for 3.11 kills per set and Alexa Aldrich-Ingram is averaging 2.58 for a team that puts down 12.67 kills per set and limit opponents to 9.6. Bailey Sullivan is good for 9.0 assists and Chevy Wagner-Chun leads the team with 21 service aces for a team that has a 109-67 season ace serves edge. Grand View accounts for 1.72 points per set on blocks and allow 1.42.

The Defenders are 13-5 overall and 11-5 in the league after winning six straight matches to end the 2020 portion of the season.

Dordt is averaging 13.3 kills per set with a .238 kill efficiency and has a 80-53 ace serves edge. The Defenders also record 2.6 points per set on blocks while allowing 12.0 kills per set with 1.5 blocks against per outing.

Jessi De Jager is averaging 2.8 kills per set and Brenna Krommendyk’s average is 2.5. Krommendyk has a .394 kill efficiency De Jager is at .302. Krommendyk’s block average is 1.3 per outing while Alli Timmermans lifted her kill average to 2.5 as well and has a .352 kill efficiency. Corrina Timmermans is averaging 2.3 kills per set in a very balanced Dordt attack.

Hannah Connelly tops the Defenders with a 4.9 digs per set average and Corrina Timmermans is at 2.2 digs. Megan Raszler puts up 7.0 assists per set and Corina Beimers is averaging 4.9.

Dordt beat Ottawa on March 12 by set scores of 25-23, 23-25, 25-17, 25-21. Jessi De Jager had a career high 23 kills and Brenna Krommendyk added 14 kills with Corrina Timmermans putting down 12. Corina Beimers and Megan Raszler had 26 and 25 assists each and Hannah Connelly got to 29 digs.

This is the final tune-up for the Defenders before the GPAC Tournament begins on Saturday, April 3.
