Dordt vs Doane Preview

Dordt College opens the 2018 home football season with a GPAC game against Doane on Saturday, September 15 at 1:00.

The Defenders are 1-0 this season after a 61-40 win over Waldorf on September 1.   Dordt started slowly but managed to grab a 34-33 halftime lead and outscored Waldorf 27-7 in the second half. Dordt scored 41 unanswered points at one juncture.

Dordt outgained Waldorf 586-564 with 284 yards rushing and 302 yards passing. Keithen Drury ran for 89 yards on 18 rushes and scored a touchdown. Brock Lamle had seven rushes for 73 yards and two score and he passed for 302 yards on 11 completions. Noah Clayberg ran for 63 yards on 11 carries and caught three passes for 91 yards and all three went for touchdowns. Levi Jungling caught four passes for 137 yards.

Casey Byker, Nathan Kabongo and Connor Bosma all had seven tackles. Tyson Dahlgrin was in on two sacks and  David Kacmarynski had a sack and recorded six tackles.

Doane is 1-0 this season and has been off since opening the season on August 25 against Friends with a 57-3 win.

Doane took a 38-3 halftime lead on the way to the lopsided win. The Tigers outgained Friends 364-177 with 217 yards of passing and 147 on the ground.  The Doane defense limited the Falcons to 36 yards on the ground.

Garrett Sonderup had 48 yards rushing on 15 carries and Jamaine Derogene for 38 yards on 10 carries.  Jack Kalina completed 17-33 passes for 206 yards and three touchdowns.  Kalina’s favorite target was Jacob Beller with 87 yards on five receptions including a 45 yard touchdown catch.  Brandon Gannon caught three passes for 43 yards.

Damond Green, Brice Broz, Chayton Crow  and Colton Pelster all had one interception. Connor Hughes had two solo and six assisted tackles and Nathan Williams had four assisted tackles.
