Dordt Wins Big Against East-West

Chicago, Illinois — The Dordt Defenders pulled away late in the first half of their contest with East-West University (Illinois) and ended up securing a 98-69 victory at a tournament hosted by Governor’s State near Chicago.

Dordt’s lead was 22-19 when Trey Hinote knocked down a three-point shot and started a run that ended with a Cade Bleeker three-point basket to extend the lead out to double digits 37-26 for a 15-7 run. The lead hovered around ten the rest of the half before Jackson Louscher scored on back to back lay ups in the final 1:42 of the half for a 54-40 lead.

Dordt didn’t take the foot off the gas in the second half and quickly went up by 20 in the first eight minutes of the second half and the Defenders were able to spread the minutes around for the 29-point win to even their record at 1-1.

Dordt converted 35-64 baskets for 55 percent and converted 12-33 three-point shots for 36 percent success.

Dordt also had a 38-30 rebounding advantage and made 16-18 free throws.

Louscher led Dordt with 17 points.

Bryce Coppock had 15 points and four assists and Cade Bleeker scored 14.

Camden Bialas and Luke Rankin had 12 and 11 respectively and Hinote came off the bench and scored nine on 3-5 three-point shooting.

Dordt will host Mayville State and Valley City State on Friday and Saturday, October 29 and 30.
