Dordt Women Go To Omaha Wednesday

Dordt will travel to Omaha, Nebraska to face the College of Saint Mary in GPAC women’s basketball on Wednesday, January 6 at 6:00 pm.

The College of Saint Mary is 1-8 this season and 0-6 in GPAC play. The Flames were idle from a 62-53 December 2 loss to Mount Marty to a 77-40 January 2 loss to Morningside. Kirk Walker’s team has a 69-47 win over Presentation to its credit this season.

The Flames are getting outscored 70.4-55.8 and hold a slight 39.1-38.1 rebounding edge. The College of Saint Mary converts 37.1 percent of its field goals and 16.7 percent of its three-point shots. The Flames have also struggled with turnovers and have committed 24 per game while forcing 19.

Dordt is 8-6 this season and 7-4 in the GPAC and has won three in a row and six of the last seven contests.

Dordt is outscoring teams 70.9-68.4 and outrebound teams 45.4-34.4. Dordt converts 39.1 percent of its field goals while allowing teams to make 39.0 percent. Dordt also has made 32.7 percent of its three-point shots while opponents have made 33.2 percent.

Ashtyn Veerbeek is scoring 14.8 points per game while grabbing 10.1 rebounds per contest and she is making 46 percent of her field goal attempts and she is averaging 2.5 assists. Erika Feenstr and Bailey Beckman each average 13.0 points per game with Feenstra taking away 5.6 rebounds and Beckman has handed out 2.8 assists per game and she leads the team with 18 steals. Karly Gustafson adds 8.8 points per game and she makes 51 percent of her field goals and she takes in 6.7 rebounds. Mya Chmielewski and Bailey Tetzlaff add 5.9 and 5.5 points per game respectively. Tetzlaff and Jordyn Winterfeld each have 15 steals.

Dordt will host Mount Marty in GPAC play on Saturday, January 9 at 2:00 pm.
