Dordt Women Host Jamestown

Dordt will host Jamestown in GPAC women’s basketball on Thursday, January 14 at 5:00 pm.

The Jimmies are 9-6 this season and 6-6 in the GPAC and have lost back to back GPAC contests to Midland and Concordia. The Jimmies are in the midst of a five game road swing that began on January 4.

Thad Sankey’s team is 3-3 in its last six games and the Jimmies have lost their last two games by a combined seven points. Hannah DeMars is scoring 20.1 points per game with 8.6 rebounds and she converts 47.4 percent of her field goals. Kia Tower is tossing in 13.3 points per game and Audrey Rodakowski’s scoring average is 10.4. Noelle Josephson is good for 9.1 points per game and she is grabbing 5.6 rebounds per game.

Dordt is 10-6 this season and 9-4 in the GPAC and has won five in a row and eight of the last nine contests.

Dordt is outscoring teams 72.8-66.4 and outrebound teams 45.4-34.4. Dordt converts 40.2 percent of its field goals while allowing teams to make 38.2 percent. Dordt also has made 33.3 percent of its three-point shots while opponents have made 32.2 percent.

Ashtyn Veerbeek is scoring 14.6 points per game while grabbing 10.0 rebounds per contest and she is making 47 percent of her field goal attempts and she is averaging 2.4 assists. Erika Feenstra is good for 13.3 points per game and Bailey Beckman adds 12.7 points per game with Feenstra taking away 5.5 rebounds and Beckman has handed out 2.7 assists per game and she leads the team with 22 steals. Karly Gustafson adds 9.2 points per game and she makes 51 percent of her field goals and she takes in 6.2 rebounds. Mya Chmielewski and Bailey Tetzlaff add 5.6 and 5.4 points per game respectively. Tetzlaff has 17 steals and Jordyn Winterfeld has 15.

Dordt used a 21-10 advantage in the second quarter to pull out an 81-64 win over the Jimmies after leading 20-17 after one quarter. Jamestown got as close as four in the third quarter but Dordt quickly ballooned the lead to 16 and was never challenged in the fourth quarter.

Dordt will travel to Hastings on Saturday, January 16 before hosting Morningside on Wednesday, January 20.
