Sioux Center, Iowa — The Dordt University women’s track and field team continues to be ranked among the NAIA’s top 10 teams in a poll released today by the USTFCCA.
The Defenders are rated ninth in the Feb.23 edition with 105.51 points, just ahead of No.10 Aquinas (Mich.). Defending national champion Indiana Tech is ranked first with 491.04 points, followed by GPAC teams, Concordia (Neb.), Hastings (Neb.), St.Francis (Ill.) and William Carey (Miss.). Another team from the GPAC, Doane, is seventh.
The Defenders have five top 10 marks heading into next week’s NAIA Indoor Championships, including three in the 600m; Mika Kooistra (3rd), Anmarie Stuit (5th) and Emilee Heynen (9th). Both the 4×400 (4th) and 4×800 (3rd) relays are ranked among the top five as well. Dordt has qualified 16 entries into the NAIA Championships (8 auto, 8 provisional).
Dordt finished third at the GPAC Indoor Championships last weekend and won five conference titles (Heynen – 800m, Anika Homan – 3K, Eden Winslow – 5K, 4×800, 4×400). Defender athletes claimed all-conference honors in 18 total events (16 individual, 2 relays).
