Des Moines, Iowa — The Drake University men’s basketball team is set to host South Dakota on Sunday Nov. 14. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
The Bulldogs topped Coe, 87-61, in their season opener. Freshman Tucker DeVries and senior Tremell Murphy each scored 14 points for Drake. The two combined for 14 rebounds and five assists.
Senior Roman Penn shot 50 percent or better in all areas of the court to finish with nine points. He added four assists and three steals for the Bulldogs.
In Drake’s history with South Dakota, which dates back to the 1912 season, the Bulldogs have won 11 of the 14 meetings. Most notably, in their meeting last season, Penn scored a career high of 25 points, 10 of which came from the free-throw line where he attempted a career high 11.
In South Dakota’s season opener, they topped Air Force, 59-53. The Coyotes were led by Kruz Perrot-Hunt who scored 14 points.
Hunter Goodrick and Xavier Fuller combined for 16 rebounds against Air Force.
After their meeting with the Coyotes, the Bulldogs will host Richmond on Saturday Nov. 20 before heading south to Florida for the ESPN Invitational on Nov. 25.
