Football Broadcast Preview for Friday August 30th

Northwest Iowa — It’s opening night for high school football Friday night and again this season KIWA will offer offer a pair of broadcast games each Friday night. Sheldon Orab   football comes your way on FM 100.7 and AM 1550. The entire season of Boyden Hull Rock Valley Nighthawk football will be once again broadcast on KIWA FM 105.3. Both games will be streamed from the website at www.kiwaradio.com.

The Sheldon Orabs open the season on the road at Sibley Ocheyedan. The Generals bring a lot of experience to the season opener.

That’s Orab Head Coach Tyler Lloyd. The coach added that the Generals will come in with the guns fully loaded for the opener.

First year Head Coach Tate Kellenberger will guide the Generals this season. Kellenberger comes from a strong winning tradition having played high school ball at West Lyon before his college career as a Northwestern Red Raider.

Kellenberger would like his team to be physical on offense.

The Coach says the key to the game doesn’t need to be made more complicated than is really is.

The Coach Kory Roos joins LA for the broadcast again this year on FM 100.7 and AM 1550.

In Hawarden it’s a battle of State ranked teams that both went to the Dome last season. The Falcons are the defending Class 1A Champions and topped the preseason poll this year. Boyd Hull Rock Valley is ranked #2 in the first 2A poll of the season.

Nighthawks Head Coach Cory Brandt says while last season was special that was last year and the focus will remain the same for his team each week of this season.

Brandt says while there is some history between the two teams it’s still difficult to prepare for a season opener.

Falcons Head Coach Ryan Schwiesow is well aware  of the Nighthawks athleticism.

The story of West Sioux quarterback Hunter Dekkers has been well documented. What may not be known is how much work he put in during the off season.

Jon and Justin Hellinga bring you season long coverage of Nighthawk football on KIWA FM 105.3. Pregame for both contests will begin at 6:05 with “The Water Boys ” pregame show. Opening kickoffs are set for 7:00 and both games will be streamed from the website at www.kiwaradio.com.
