Portland Oregon — Sheldon native A.G. Kruger placed second in the men’s weight throw Friday at the USA Track and Field Indoor Championships held at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland.
With 15 athletes competing in the event Kruger threw the weight 76 feet, three inches on his fourth attempt. He had qualified for the finals with a distance of 73 feet, one and three quarter inches. The winning toss was 78 feet – seven and a half inches.
A.G. Kruger is a three time Olympian in the hammer throw. He joined the South Dakota track and field staff for the 2015-16 school year. Under Kruger’s guidance the Coyotes set six new marks on the programs all-time top 10 list in his first indoor season as the throws coach.
The Sheldon native graduated from Morningside College in 2001 and was named the NCAA Division II National Outdoor Male Track and Field Athlete of the Year that season.
