DES MOINES, Iowa – The Northwestern College wrestling team continues picking up experience against high-quality opponents today at the Grand View Open in Des Moines, Iowa. Freshman Jakob Francksen-Small (Merrill, Iowa/Le Mars Community) picks up a sixth-place finish, the highest-placing Raider in a field of top-notch wrestlers.
Overall, our guys battled hard and our young team had a chance to learn some valuable lessons throughout the day,” said head coach Rik Dahl.
Francksen-Small picked up his sixth-place finish after fighting all the way to the semifinal of the championship bracket at 174lbs. in the freshman/sophomore bracket.
Several guys pick up their first win today – Case Cauthron (Fr., Spencer, Iowa/Spencer), Daniel Hinds (Fr., Le Mars, Iowa/Le Mars), and Jacob Pierick (Fr., Maxwell, Iowa/Collins-Maxwell) as Raiders, in their respective weight classes. ”
“We will welcome the Sabbath and try to get healed up for Wednesday’s dual against Dakota Wesleyan,” noted Dahl.
Up Next: Northwestern will hit the mat again this Wednesday, November 17 in the first Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) duals of the season when they travel to Mitchell, S.D. to face the Tigers of Dakota Wesleyan University at 7:00 p.m.
