Friday Football Broadcast Preview – October 16th, 2026

The regular season comes to a close Friday night with a pair of games on our broadcast schedule.

On KIWA AM 1550/FM 100.7, Sheldon hosts Cherokee at Orab Field. On KIWA FM 105.3, Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley takes on Western Christian in Rock Valley.

We spoke with the four head coaches to get a deeper look into the two matchups.

Cherokee vs. Sheldon

Coming off a road loss to top-ranked Central Lyon/George-Little Rock, the Orabs are looking to close the season with their first win. Cherokee enters the matchup 2-5 overall and 1-3 in district play after falling to Western Christian last week.

While Cherokee is known for their running game the Braves are more than that.

That’s Sheldon Head Coach Andy Cooper. Like any season this year has been about the journey for the Orabs.

Cherokee Head Coach Kris Alesch says the Orabs are a better team than their record indicates.

Alesch says the focus Friday night is on what the Braves can control, rather than trying to take something away from Sheldon.

LA and Sam Heyn will have the coverage on KIWA AM 1550 / FM 100.7.

Western Christian vs. Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley

Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley wraps up their regular season at home after a loss to Unity Christian. The Nighthawks enter the week 2-5 overall and 1-3 in district play. Western Christian comes in at 4-3 overall and 3-1 in the district.

Nighthawks Head Coach Jayme Rozeboom says he has a high amount of respect for this week’s opponent.

Rozeboom’s message to his team heading into the regular-season finale is simple.

Wolfpack Head Coach Travis Kooima sees the Nighthawks as a very dangerous team.

The focus for his staff this week has been on the details.

Jon and Justin Hellinga are on the call for Nighthawk Football on KIWA FM 105.3.

Pregame for both contests will begin at 6:30 p.m., with kickoff set for 7 p.m. Both games will be streamed live at kiwaradio.com.
