Friday Football Broadcast Preview – October 4th, 2026

It’s Week Six of the high school football season, and district races are beginning to take shape.

Our broadcast coverage this week features Sheldon hosting Unity Christian and Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley traveling to Cherokee.

We took a deeper dive into the two matchups:

Unity Christian vs. Sheldon

Sheldon returns home after a road loss to Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley and enters the week 0-5 overall. Unity Christian is 1-4 on the season and 1-1 in district play after falling to Western Christian last Friday.

Based on roster and records it should be a great match up.

That’s Orab Head Coach Andy Cooper. Assignment football will be among the big keys Friday night.

Knights Head Coach Josh Van Kempen says the Orabs are a team that is getting healthier and becoming more dangerous.

For Unity Christian, the formula for a win is pretty straightforward.

LA and Sam Heyn will have the coverage on KIWA AM 1550 and FM 100.7.

Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley vs. Cherokee

After back-to-back home games, Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley hits the road to face Cherokee. The Nighthawks are 2-3 overall and 1-1 in district play. Cherokee fell to Central Lyon/George-Little Rock last week and enters at 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the district.

Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley Head Coach Jayme Rozeboom says he has a great deal of respect for the Braves.

Rozeboom says the key word this week is discipline.

Braves Head Coach Kris Alesch says he is impressed with the diversity of the Nighthawks’ offense.

For Cherokee, the biggest key is simply doing their jobs.

Jon Hellinga is on the call for Nighthawk Football on KIWA FM 105.3.

Pregame for both contests begins at 6:30 with kickoff set for 7. Both games will be streamed at kiwaradio.com.
