Game Week For Northern Iowa Football Team

Cedar Falls, Iowa — The UNI football team is getting set for an unusual season but the expectations remain the same. The Panthers open an eight game spring season Friday night at home against South Dakota State.

UNI has made it to the FCS playoffs 12 times in Mark Farley’s 19 seasons as head coach.

UNI opens the season ranked third in the Athlon FCS poll. South Dakota State is fifth.

Farley says there is no thought about using this season to build for the fall.

Panther defensive lineman Jared Brinkman is ready for the season.

Brinkman says they are happy to get the chance to play.

Receiver Isaiah Weston is confident the Panthers will be ready for the opener.

Weston says even though it is February it feels like football season.
