Gophers hosting Hawkeyes on Big Ten Saturday Night

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Golden Gopher football team is back to practice getting ready for Saturday night’s border battle with the Iowa Hawkeyes. Both teams are 2-1 after registering non-conference wins this past Saturday. Minnesota blanked Nevada 27-0 in Minneapolis, while Iowa beat Troy 38-21 in Iowa City. Gopher head coach P-J Fleck says winning the match-up last year 12-10 has helped strengthen this rivalry. He says rivalries are stronger when the game results are mixed, and going “back and forth.” And, last year, Minnesota won for the first time since 2014 and Fleck says he’d like to see the rivalry results have a “little more balance” moving forward to keep it strong. Saturday’s game kicks off at 6:30 P-M.
