GPAC Women’s Soccer Tournament Pairings Announced

Sioux City, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Postseason Women’s Soccer Tournament, presented by Cypress Risk Management, will open on Saturday, April 3, 2021, with quarterfinal round action. The 2020 GPAC Women’s Soccer Tournament was moved to the spring of 2021 because of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

The top seed in the tournament is regular season champion Briar Cliff (10-1-1 GPAC, 31 pts.), while Morningside is the two seed (9-2-1 GPAC, 28 pts.). The three seed is Concordia (9-2-1 GPAC, 28 pts.). The fourth seed for the tournament is Hastings (8-4 GPAC, 24 pts.). The five seed goes to Jamestown (7-5 GPAC, 21 pts.), with the six seed to Dakota Wesleyan (7-5-2 GPAC, 21 pts.). The seventh seed is Midland (5-4-3 GPAC, 18 pts.) and the eighth seed is Dordt (5-5-2 GPAC, 17 pts.). Ties were broken by head-to-head competition results during the regular season.

Three points were awarded for every conference win, one for each tie, and no points for a conference loss in the GPAC standings.

The semifinals will be played on Tuesday, April 6, with the finals on Friday, April 9.

The winner of the GPAC Tournament will advance, as the league’s second automatic representative, to the NAIA National Women’s Soccer National Championship Opening Round (on April 15-17). If the regular season champion (Briar Cliff) wins the Tournament, the regular season runner-up (Morningside by tiebreaker) will receive the second NAIA berth to the postseason.

The NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship Final Site is in Foley, Alabama, April 27-May 1, 2021, at the Foley Sports Tourism Championship Field.
