Groendyke Signs With NWC Volleyball

Kiernan Groendyke (Orange City, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue her volleyball career at Northwestern College.

Groendyke is a 5’5″ libero who enjoyed an illustrious, three-year career playing for the MOC-Floyd Valley High School volleyball team. Groendyke led the Dutch in both digs (359) and ace serves (35), ranking among the top 10 in the Siouxland Conference in both statistical categories. She was part of a MOC-Floyd Valley team that won the conference title with a perfect 9-0 record and finished 24-5 overall.

“Kiernan is a tremendous addition to our volleyball program,” commented Northwestern Head Coach Kyle Van Den Bosch. “She is quick, athletic and has a natural passing platform, attributes that are necessary to be successful in the backrow. Kiernan has a passion for the game of volleyball and is a great leader who has the ability to connect with her teammates. We are excited to welcome Kiernan to our program and to our Northwestern College campus.”

Groendyke earned all-conference three straight years, including first team accolades as a senior. She was also an all-district and all-Northwest Iowa Review selection in 2020. Named the team’s defensive most valuable player the last two years, Groendyke was named to the Academic All-State team. She is the daughter of Aaron and Kelana.
