Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Volleyball Players-of-the-Week Announced

Sioux City, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following Volleyball players-of-the-week for contests played August 28-Sept. 3, 2017. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2017-2018 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Attacker – Anna Kiel, Northwestern College (Middle Blocker)

Northwestern’s Anna Kiel is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Attacker-of-the-Week. Kiel, a sophomore, from Maurice, Iowa, averaged 3.4 kills per set and hit. .448 for the week while putting down over 10 kills in all five wins. Kiel also led the 13th-ranked Red Raiders with 15 blocks and recorded five aces to go with 1.6 digs per set.

Setter — Jamie Gesink, Dordt College

Jamie Gesink of Dordt College is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week. Gesink, a junior from Sioux Center, Iowa, averaged 12.38 assists per set in four matches on the week, three against ranked opponents. She ranks 11th in the NAIA in total assists and 25th in assists per set and averaged nearly a kill per set for the second-ranked Defenders.

Defender – Summer Jansen, Dordt College (Defensive Specialist)

Dordt defensive specialist Summer Jansen is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Defender-of-the-Week. Jansen, a senior from Sheldon, Iowa, averaged 5.92 digs per set in the Defenders four matches. She had match-high totals of 22 digs against #14 Montana Tech and #23 Carroll. She currently ranks 20th in total digs in the NAIA.
