Sioux Center, Iowa — Emilee Heynen was named the GPAC / Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Indoor Track Runner of the Week announced by the conference office Wednesday.
Heynen qualified for the NAIA Indoor Championships in two events at the Mount Marty Open last weekend. Heynen won the 600m, crossing the finish line just ahead of her teammate Mika Kooistra, with an ‘A’ standard time of 1:36.6. The freshman’s time is currently the fastest in the NAIA. Heynen also ran the first leg of the winning 4×800 relay that met the ‘A’ standard and has the fastest time in the NAIA to date (9:22.75).
