Hulstein Signs With Defender Basketball

Sioux Center, Iowa — Tyra Hulstein, a senior at Unity Christian High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender basketball program.

“We look forward to Tyra joining our program. She’s been a part of a team that has enjoyed great success and she’ll carry that with her when she arrives. She’s a great leader and student and I look forward to seeing the impact she will have on our campus,” said Dordt basketball coach Bill Harmsen.

Hulstein is a 5-6 guard and converted 52 three-point shots during her career and has averaged just under five points per game the last two seasons.

“I chose Dordt because of their focus on transforming students and players in every aspect of life. I wanted to choose a college where I would be both supported and challenged in my faith and I found that in Dordt University. After talking to professors and coaches I am confident my years at Dordt will equip me for life after college. I am excited to join Dordt’s basketball program and for the experiences that will come with it,” said Hulstein.

Tyra is the daughter of Greg and Christy Hulstein of Sioux Center, Iowa. She plans to study Education at Dordt.
