Iowa City, Iowa — Iowa basketball coach Fran McCaffery may have to spending more time looking at the transfer portal than he first expected.
Hawkeye guard CJ Fredrick has entered the portal after redshirt sophomore season in which he averaged seven and a half points per game and shot 47 percent from three point range. McCaffery was already looking for a big man to replace Jack Nunge, who transferred to Xavier.
McCaffery says there are a lot of things that go into adding a transfer.
McCaffery says it is about filling a need and getting the right fit.
