New Brunswick, NJ (RI) – Iowa coach Fran McCaffery is staying positive with his team as the season appears to be unraveling.
The Hawkeyes have lost six of their last seven games and with leading scorer and rebounder Owen Freeman done for the season, they have a lot to replace as they get set to visit Rutgers Wednesday night.
The Hawkeyes are 4-8 in the Big Ten and it is a different team that prepares for the stretch run.
Freeman’s absence means the Hawkeyes need to be more efficient on offense.
Rutgers is 5-8 in the Big Ten and led by star freshmen Ace Baily and Dylan Harper. That duo is averaging better than 38 points per game.
