The University of Minnesota football team continues to gear up for tomorrow’s contest with the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Golden Gophers are looking to break a seven-game losing streak against their border rivals to the south.
Both teams have won three straight this season, as Minnesota sits at 7-3 overall, while Iowa is 6-4. Both squads are 4-3 in the Big Ten and tied with Illinois and Purdue for first-place in the Big Ten West.
Iowa quarterback Spencer Petras does not feel ball handling will be an issue in the cold at Minnesota. The temperature at kickoff is expected to be in the teens.
Petras says he won’t need to do anything special to accommodate for the cold.
Iowa remains last in the Big Ten in total offense but with the offense improving has won three straight games after a 3-4 start.
Iowa’s offensive line has struggled against good defenses earlier this season and the Gophers have one of the best in the Big Ten.

From the Minnesota perspective Gopher defensive end Jalen Logan-Redding of Columbia, Missouri says he understands the importance of the Minnesota-Iowa rivalry.
Logan-Redding says the Hawkeyes are tough-minded and physical.
He adds Iowa has a good tradition of good players.
Saturday’s game kicks off at 3 P-M at Huntington Bank Stadium.
