Iowa Pounds Michigan At Big Ten Baseball Tournament

A big fifth inning lifted Iowa at the Big Ten Baseball Tournament in Omaha.

John Leo with the call on the Hawkeye Network. Brayden Frazier’s grand slam capped a six run fifth as the Hawkeyes beat Michigan 13-3 in a game shorted to eight innings. Sam Peterson provided insurance in the bottom of the seventh with a three run blast.

Frazier’s homer opened the floodgates as the Hawkeyes won their 40th game of the season.

That was Frazier on the postgame show on the Big Ten Network. The Hawkeyes scored 12 runs in the final four innings.

Iowa is 40-13 and advances to Thursday afternoon’s second round. The third-seeded Hawkeyes will meet number 2 seed Indiana on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Charles Schwab Field Omaha. The Hoosiers advanced with a 4-3 win over #7 seed Illinois. The Hoosiers are 41-16 on the season.
