Iowa State women play Princeton Wednesday night in NCAA opener

Ames, Iowa (RI) – The Iowa State women open the NCAA Tournament Wednesday night at Notre Dame as the Cyclones take on Princeton as part of the First Four.

ISU is 22-1 and making its sixth straight appearance in the tournamnent.

That’s ISU coach Bill Fennellly. Princeton is 21-7 and Fennelly says it is a team with outstanding balance.

It will be a game of contrasting styles. The Cyclones average 77 points per game while Princeton plays as a deliberate pace and averages 67 points per game.

Fennelly says it will challenge the Cyclones patience on defense.

Iowa State sophomore center Audi Crooks says Princeton is fundamentally sound.

Crooks says the Cyclones enter the tournament with a lot to prove.

The Cyclones are hoping to play three games this week in South Bend. Sophomore forward Addy Brown.

The winner advances to play sixth-seeded Michigan.
