Iowa To Play Kentucky In Citrus Bowl

The 15th ranked Iowa Hawkeyes will play 22nd ranked Kentucky on New Year’s Day in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando.

It is the Hawks’ first appearance in the game since the miracle Tate to Holloway game winner in 2005 against LSU. The game winner came as time expired.

Ferentz says the Hawkeyes are looking forward to the return trip.

Mark Stoops was the youngest of the three Stoops brothers to play for Iowa. He has been the head coach at Kentucky since 2013. The Hawkeyes had the Music City Bowl game a year ago postponed due to a COVID outbreak at Missouri.

The Hawkeyes are 10-3 after getting trounced by Michigan in the Big Ten Championship. Ferentz is happy his team gets another chance to claim an 11th win.
