Iowa takes a 6-1 record and number 18 national ranking on the road to 17th ranked Penn State.
The Hawkeyes will be out to snap a four game losing streak in the series.
That’s Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz who says after posting victories in their first two road games they face a bigger challenge in Happy Valley.
Kristian Welch will get another start at middle linebacker but Ferentz says Jack Hockaday has returned to practice after suffering a leg injury at Minnesota.
At 6-1 the Hawks have set themselves up to play meaningful games down the stretch.
Ferentz says Iowa junior Nate Stanley and Penn State senior Trace McSorley have become standout quarterbacks through hard work.
Penn State coach James Franklin says Iowa’s offense is vastly improved this season.
Franklin says the tight end combination of Noah Fant and T.J. Hockenson allow the Hawkeyes to be more versatile.
Franklin says a run defense that was a concern coming into the season will be challenged by Iowa’s run first defense.
Franklin would like to more weapons step up for the offense. Senior quarterback Trace McSorley has carried the ball 98 times this season and has averaged 18 carries the last four games.
Kick off is at 2:30 pm at Beaver Stadium.
