Minneapolis, Minnesota (RI) — Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says Jeremy Hecklinski will start at quarterback on Saturday when the 15th-ranked Hawkeyes visit Minnesota.
Hecklinski filled in for the injured Hank Brown in a 41-24 win at Washington, where he finished 14-of-19 for 202 yards and three touchdowns.
Brown led the Hawkeyes to 4-1 record before suffering a sprained shoulder in a loss to Ohio State.
Ferentz says Brown is healthy, and the decision to go with Hecklinski was made over the weekend.
Ferentz says they don’t plan on using both quarterbacks.
The Hawkeyes take a 5-1 record into the second half of the schedule. Ferentz says they are filled with tough challenges ahead.
Ferentz says the Hawkeyes expect to face the Gopher team that beat Michigan and Washington and not the one that lost at Purdue.
