Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz Previews Illinois

Iowa City, Iowa — Illinois coach Brett Bielema won’t be in Kinnick Stadium Saturday when they Illini play 18th ranked Iowa.

The former Hawkeye player and assistant coach tested positive for COVID after developing mild symptoms.

That’s Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz who says quarterback Spencer Petras has returned to practice after missing the Minnesota game with a shoulder injury but won’t say if Petras will play against the Illini. Alex Padilla led Iowa to a 27-22 win over Minnesota.

Ferentz says Petras is working with the second unit.

Ferentz says Bielema is using the same formula at Illinois that brought him success at Wisconsin.
