Iowa City, Iowa — Alex Padilla is listed as the starter at quarterback but Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says Spencer Petras has not been ruled out of Saturday’s game against Minnesota.
Petras was nursing an injury and was pulled in the first quarter of a 17-12 win at Northwestern.
Ferentz says Petras has not practiced this week and is resting his throwing arm.
Ferentz says as of now freshman Deuce Hogan is working as the backup.
Minnesota is 6-3 and Ferentz has been impressed with the way the Gophers have handled adversity.
Ferentz says the Iowa defense faces a big challenge against the Minnesota offensive line.
