Irving, Texas – The Big 12 officially announced the 2025 conference schedule Tuesday afternoon. Iowa State will face eight of the other ten Big 12 softball programs, hosting four series at the Cyclone Softball Complex and playing the other four on the road.
2025 features the additions of Arizona, Arizona State and Utah, while both Oklahoma and Texas have exited the league.
Big 12 action begins in early March when the Cyclones head to Houston to match up with the Cougars in the conference opener across a three-game series (March 7-9).
Following a week off from conference play, Iowa State is back on the road beginning March 20 when it heads to the Sunshine State for a Thurs.-Sat. tilt with the UCF Knights. This will be the second straight year meeting for the new conference foes, as the two teams battled in Ames last year.
After spending the first two weeks of the conference slate on the road, the Cyclones will have their Big 12 opening series across March 28-30 against newcomer Arizona State. ISU will then stay in Ames and welcome the BYU Cougars the following weekend for a Thurs.-Sat. slate of action.
The Cyclones will be back on the road April 11-13 when they head south to match up with the Oklahoma State Cowgirls. Last season, ISU earned the highest-ranked series win over OSU, taking two of three against the fifth-ranked Cowgirls in Ames.
Iowa State then returns to the confines of the Cyclone Softball Complex for an April 17-19 (Thurs.-Sat.) showdown with Kansas. The weekend series will be played a day earlier to accommodate for the Easter holiday.
For its penultimate conference series, the Cyclones will head to Salt Lake City for a first-time conference matchup with Utah. The Utes are one of four Big 12 foes (joining Oklahoma State, UCF and Baylor) on Iowa State’s schedule who made the 2024 Softball Championship last season.
ISU closes Big 12 play at home in front of Cyclone Nation against Baylor, with play starting on May 2. It’s the third time in the last five seasons that Iowa State will close home conference play against the Bears (’21 & ’23).
The Phillips 66 Big 12 Softball Championship returns to Oklahoma City’s OGE Field at Devon Park, the home of the Women’s College World Series, from May 7-10. All 11 teams will compete in the conference’s postseason tournament.
