Dalton Jacobsma of Orange City has signed a letter of intent to continue his football and baseball careers at Northwestern College next fall.
Jacobsma is a 6’1″, 195-pound linebacker and offensive lineman who played three years for MOC-Floyd Valley High School. Jacobsma accounted for a team-high 55 tackles and earned first team all-district honors last fall. Named team captain the last two seasons, Jacobsma was also an all-district pick as a junior. A member of the honor roll and National Honor Society, Jacobsma plans to major in Athletic Training / Coaching at Northwestern.
“Dalton is a tough, physical football player,” said Northwestern Head Coach Matt McCarty. “He understands the game and is a playmaker in the middle of the defense. We are excited to have Dalton join our Red Raider football team.”
Jacobsma has played four years for the Dutch baseball team heading into his final season this summer. He ranked third on the team with .354 batting average to go with 25 runs scored and 22 RBI’s. Jacobsma earned all-conference accolades as a junior and was named team captain. He is the son of Bruce and Tracy.
“We are really excited for Dalton to be a Red Raider,” said Northwestern Head Coach Brian Wede. “He is a good leader with a strong work ethic who we think will contribute to our team over the next four years. We believe Dalton will be someone who will work tirelessly to get himself on the field.”
