Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) is proud to announce the 2022 Wrestling All-Conference Teams. Doane University’s Baterdene Boldmaa, at 141lbs, has been named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Wrestler-of-the-Year for the second consecutive year, while Doane Head Coach Dana Vote has been named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Wrestling Coach-of-the-Year after guiding the Tigers to the GPAC Championship. Trent Munoz of Hastings has been named the GPAC Freshman-of-the-Year, This is the first time the GPAC has had the award.
The GPAC Wrestling All-Conference Teams consist of a first and second team of 12 members each and ten honorable mention selections.
Jenness (So., Primghar, Iowa/Sheldon) is welcoming his third-career First Team All-Conference honor after posting a team high 28-4 record while leading the Raiders in falls with 11. He also finished the conference season as an individual GPAC Champion at 184lbs. at the 2022 GPAC Championships. Jenness will be looking to carry this trend into his National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Wrestling Championships bouts on March 4-5 in Wichita, Kansas.
Francksen-Small (Fr., Merrill, Iowa/Le Mars Community) grabbed his first-career All-Conference honor, picking up All-Conference honors. This season, he has posted a 20-9 record leading the Raiders in major decisions (5) and match points (183). Francksen-Small also has hopes to find more success at the National Tournament next weekend in Wichita.
Second team honors went to Morningside’s Hunter De Jong. The former Sibley-Ocheyedan stand out had a 16-4 record for the Mustangs and also moved to the national meet as at-large qualifier at 197.
