The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following football players-of-the-week for games played on Saturday, September 29, 2018. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2018-2019 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.
Hauff Mid-America Sports/ Football Players-of-the-Week
Offense – Jacob Kalogonis, Running Back (Northwestern College)
Northwestern running back Jacob Kalogonis is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Kalagonis, a junior from Lake Havasu City, Arizona, rushed for a season-high 196 yards on 31 attempts, averaging over six yards per carry, and scored three touchdowns in a 28-25 win over Doane. He scored on runs of one, two and 40 yards. Kalogonis became the sixth Red Raider to rush for 3,000 yards in a career and passed Lance Baatz for fifth all-time in career rushing yards. The fifth-ranked Red Raiders will host Dordt College on October 6. Kick off will be at 1 pm.
Defense – David Kacmarynski, Defensive End (Dordt College)
Dordt defensive end David Kacmarynski is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Kacmarynski, a sophomore, from Pella, Iowa, led a Dordt defense that held Concordia to 68 yards rushing in the game and limited the Bulldogs to 112 total yards in the second half. He finished the game with seven solo tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack and one pass break up. He also blocked point after that allowed Dordt to maintain its lead in the first half. The Defenders travel to Northwestern to take on the fifth-ranked Red Raiders on October 6. Kick off will be at 1 pm.
