Orange City Iowa — Karsyn Winterfeld of Sioux Center has signed a letter of intent to continue her volleyball career at Northwestern College next fall.
Winterfeld is a 5’9” outside hitter who started three years for Western Christian High School. A three-time all-state selection, Winterfeld was named the class 2A player of the year as a senior after earning second team honors both as a sophomore and junior. She helped lead the Wolfpack to their second consecutive state title this past year, finishing with a 41-6 overall record. Winterfeld was named to the all-tournament team and earned all-conference honors the last three years. She averaged a team-best 3.4 kills, ranked second on the team in digs (3.0) and ranked third in the entire state with 101 ace serves as a senior. A member of the National Honor Society, Winterfeld plans to major in elementary education at Northwestern. She is the daughter of Dan and Sara.
Northwestern volleyball coach Kyle Van Den Bosch said, “Karsyn has been a six-rotation player for one of the top volleyball programs in the state over the last three years. Karsyn has played a big role in leading Western Christian to back-to-back state titles and one runner-up finish. She is a tremendous competitor who plays her best in the biggest matches. We are thrilled to have Karsyn continue her education and volleyball career at Northwestern College.”
