Orange City Iowa — Northwestern guard Kassidy De Jong is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports women’s basketball player-of-the-week.
De Jong, a sophomore guard from Hospers helped the Red Raiders to a 98-97 road win over No.4 Morningside. The Unity Christian graduate scored a career-high 36 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. She made 3-of-5 from beyond the arc and went 17-for-19 from the free throw line. Northwestern improved to 7-3 on the year.
In an announcement Tuesday Kassidy added the NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball Player of the Week to her resume. De Jong was selected for her performance during the week of Nov. 22 – 29 and was selected out of the conference and Association of Independent Institutions award winners. She Leads the NAIA in points per game (23.8) and total scoring (238). She is also ranked 12th in total rebounds nationally (81). This is her first national player of the week honor.
